1. What these terms cover
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Danskify browser extension and related services (collectively, “Danskify”). By installing or using Danskify, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
Danskify is currently in beta. Features may change, and service interruptions or data resets may occur as we improve the experience.
2. Who can use Danskify
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum legal age in your country) to use Danskify. By installing or using Danskify, you represent that you meet this age requirement.
3. License to use Danskify
We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Danskify solely for personal, non-commercial language learning. You may not modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer the extension except where open-source licensing explicitly permits it.
Danskify, including its logo, mascot, and brand materials, are owned by Danskify and protected by intellectual property laws. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
4. Acceptable use and fair use limits
You agree to use Danskify responsibly and only for personal learning purposes. Misuse or tampering with service mechanisms is prohibited.
Specifically, you agree not to:
- Collect or harvest data from other websites or users
- Disrupt, damage, or interfere with third-party services or APIs
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify Danskify’s network or cache behavior, except as permitted by open-source licensing
- Circumvent or attempt to bypass technical limits, including but not limited to translation-per-page limits, caching duration, or AI translation quotas
- Use scripts or automated tools to trigger excessive translation, TTS audio generation, or cache requests
- Misrepresent Danskify or use its content commercially without permission
Danskify enforces fair-use caps per page and per session to ensure equitable access and system stability. Attempts to bypass these limits may result in temporary suspension or IP throttling.
5. Third-party services and browser policies
Danskify integrates with third-party APIs such as DeepL, OpenAI, Google Cloud Text-to-Speech, and Cloudflare Workers. These services process translation and audio generation requests and may experience outages or return imperfect results. We are not responsible for third-party service availability or accuracy.
By using Danskify, you also agree to the respective provider terms:
Danskify also complies with the Firefox Add-ons, Chrome Web Store, and Safari Extension policies. By installing Danskify, you agree to any applicable browser provider terms.
6. Respect for copyright and website content
Danskify operates on top of third-party webpages. All original page content remains the property of its respective owners. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Danskify complies with the copyright, data, and usage policies of the websites you visit.
7. Data and privacy
Danskify processes minimal text necessary for translation and text-to-speech as described in our Privacy Policy. Sentences are securely transmitted via Cloudflare Workers and anonymized before reaching DeepL, OpenAI, or Google Cloud Text-to-Speech. Cached translations in Cloudflare KV expire automatically after 30 days. TTS audio files are stored in Cloudflare R2 and retained indefinitely to improve performance, but contain no personal identifiers. Danskify does not include trackers or analytics in the extension. The marketing site uses an EU-hosted instance of PostHog for anonymous visit analytics.
8. Beta status and feedback
Danskify is offered as a beta product. Features, data structures, and performance may change without notice. We do not guarantee that stored learning progress or preferences will persist between versions.
By submitting feedback, suggestions, or improvement ideas, you grant Danskify a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use that input to enhance the service.
9. Accounts (future feature)
Future versions may include optional accounts for progress sync, friend streaks, or usage management. Any account feature will remain voluntary and covered under an updated Privacy Policy prior to launch.
10. Disclaimers
Danskify is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee that translations, pronunciations, or definitions are accurate, complete, or suitable for a specific purpose. Verify important translations independently.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Danskify and its developers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your use of or inability to use Danskify.
12. Indemnification
You agree to hold Danskify harmless from any claim arising from your misuse of the extension, including violations of third-party site terms or automated abuse of translation systems.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes will be handled in the competent courts of the Netherlands.
14. Force majeure
Danskify is not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond reasonable control, including outages, third-party service failures, or natural events.
15. Severability
If any part of these Terms is found invalid, the remaining provisions remain in full effect. These Terms represent the entire agreement between you and Danskify.
